Canadian Sinfonietta

Canadian Sinfonietta

Currently in its 12th season, the Canadian Sinfonietta is a group of professional musicians ranging from 13-20 players, all dedicated to fulfilling the orchestra's mission to bring live chamber music back to the growing communities in the GTA with a focus on multi-cultural and youth outreach

Young Artist Mentorship Program

Through these past twelve years, the orchestra has devoted at least one concert per season to nurturing young talent, giving opportunities for young artists not only to solo with the orchestra, but also to train and perform side by side with the professional orchestra members. The ongoing partnership with local music school Aster’s Music House has also worked to ensure that students ranging from ages 3-18 have an opportunity to perform on the stage in a concert hall.

Our Music

Since it is the orchestra’s mission to engage a new generation of concert goers, we like to present music that is “traditional with a twist.” Multi-Cultural Music, Interdisciplinary Arts Concerts, Intimate Salon Style Music, and New Canadian Music are all interspersed with traditional repertoire by composers such as Bach, Mozart, or Beethoven.

Community Outreach

In addition to a regular concert series the orchestra also performs with Toronto area choirs, takes part in community events such as multi-cultural celebrations, as well as charity fundraisers and has performed for prominent Canadian figures such as the former Governor-General Adrienne Clarkson, and Toronto Mayor, David Miller.

CS Chamber Players

The Canadian Sinfonietta also enjoys a profile outside of Toronto through various touring initiatives throughout the Province of Ontario. Core members of the Orchestra form the Canadian Sinfonietta Chamber Players and frequently appear in regional festivals and series' throughout the Province, including such prestigious venues as the Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber Music Festival and the Canadian Opera Company Noontime Concert Series.
