SUPPORT THE
CANADIAN SINFONIETTA! The Canadian Sinfonietta
is a high-calibre chamber orchestra led by Artistic Director and founder,
Tak-Ng Lai. The orchestra is comprised of a group of professional musicians
from many ethnic backgrounds, including African- American, Eastern European,
Asian, and South American. Our mission is to reintroduce live chamber music to the growing Toronto communities.
The orchestra’s
repertoire is comprised of a variety of music. To rediscover
the traditional, we make sure to include classical favourites in every
concert season. The orchestra also understands how important it is
to support the contemporary composers of the day. With the help of our
Canadian composer in residence, Michael Pepa and other composers like
him, we hope to explore new contemporary works. By performing
music featuring ethnic instruments and music arranged from differing
cultural heritages for chamber orchestra, the orchestra celebrates
the growing cultural diversity of our communities. In addition to
a regular concert series, the orchestra performs with local choirs,
and at community events such as multi-cultural celebrations and charity
fund-raisers. Youth Outreach The Canadian Sinfonietta
is devoted to nurturing young talent and thus regularly extends invitations
to rising stars to perform not only as guest soloists with our orchestra,
but also within the orchestra, with members as their stand partners.
Our partnership with local and national competitions such as the Canadian
Music Competition (CMC) and the Toronto Music Competition enables us
to reach out to many talented young artists. Fundraising The Canadian Sinfonietta
is a non-profit charitable organization. Every season, we present
5 concerts, each featuring prominent Canadian or international artists
as well as a professional chamber orchestra ranging from 14 to 24 players.
Within the concert season, we perform a variety of music chosen by our
artistic director, all aimed to enhance audience enjoyment while meeting
the criteria of the above mentioned mission statement. Each concert
requires approximately $10, 000 to present. Aside from small
grant opportunities we are eligible for, we depend on you for financial
support to bring the music back to the communities. All donations receive tax-deductible receipts. Our Federal Charitable

is going to be an exciting one for the Canadian Sinfonietta! It’s
our 10th anniversary and we will be performing from the newly
built Richmond Hill Performing Arts Centre, 10268 Yonge Street, Richmond
